Suzanne Elder

A leader in the advancement of progressive health care policy and a driver of evidence-based solutions for the care of students with chronic health conditions in school settings, Suzanne has significant first-hand experience and operational insights on education and disability issues as they relate to individuals and institutions. Suzanne consults with advocates, agencies, and legislators throughout the country and has earned a reputation for providing reliable, high-quality information and support services to parents, schools, health care providers and other stakeholders.

Suzanne led the legislative and advocacy initiative in Illinois for The Care of Students with Diabetes Act. She organized thousands of people throughout the state, negotiated more than 200 Section 504 plans, and drafted the law that now safeguards the health and education rights of students with diabetes in Illinois.

After earning her Master's degree in public policy from the University of Chicago, she was appointed to conduct a utilization study of select state health and Medicaid policies for the Center for Human Potential and Public Policy (formerly the Institute of Policy Research) at The Harris School of Public Policy Studies at the University of Chicago.

Previously, Suzanne was the principal consultant for Zanhausen Co., a marketing and communications firm that served non-profit and corporate clients including Ameritech, Burson-Marsteller, Brunswick, and The Regional Transportation Authority among others.
