Opponents convinced some legislators that people with diabetes
use large, intermuscular needles to inject insulin. Their purpose?
To scare legislators into voting against The Care of Students with
Diabetes Act.

The purpose of this patch? We sent them out to thank our advocates and allies. It was our way of injecting a little levity into what has been a long, difficult and sometimes painful process.

As for insulin needles? Well, they're not so scary. This is what one really looks like---when it's magnified 300 percent.
